Stories of Hope:

Jaclyn's Story:

Jaclyn asked herself, “I am pregnant?   How am I ever going to provide for my child?”

When Jaclyn first found out she was pregnant, she felt completely helpless.   Her boyfriend had left her, and she was feeling alone and heartbroken.   She did not know how she would ever recover from the relationship or how she would become a good mother to her child.   Feeling hopeless, she turned to CPC Women’s Health Resource for help and counseling. “I entered myself into the Earn While You Learn Program at the CPC, and it helped me far beyond what I could have ever expected. During the classes, I gained confidence in my parenting skills, “purchased” a crib with the baby bucks I earned from attending the classes, and I also rededicated myself to Christ, which has totally changed my life!”   Today, Jaclyn is serving at Serenity Haven helping women who have been in abusive relationships find hope and self-worth in the Lord.   She believes that the help and the mentoring received from the CPC counselors was a gift from God.   “I thank God for leading me to the CPC.   Because of the counselor’s loving concern, I am forever changed!”

Tara's Story:

While speaking to us about what she thought “doing the right thing” meant, Tara stated, “I just thought you went to church and tried to be the best person you could be. However, at the age of 14, I found myself pregnant and not knowing what to do.   My parents took me to CPC Women’s Health Resource where I received counseling that helped me to choose life for my unborn baby.” Tara’s parents, however, had another plan and insisted on taking her to get an abortion.   Tara felt trapped as if she had no other choices.   For days, the CPC staff and volunteers prayed fervently for Tara and her parents, as did her church family, and after much prayer, the abortion appointment was cancelled.   The CPC staff worked with Tara to help her make an adoption plan for her baby by contacting a local Christian adoption agency, and she chose a couple from their files to parent her son.   However, since the birth father was unwilling to sign the adoption papers for placing the baby in the adoption home, the adoption fell apart. “Since we were not planning on bringing the baby home, we had no supplies at all, but the CPC surprised us when they arrived at my parents' home with a huge amount of baby items and supplies for Jonathon.”  Now Tara has finished high school, earned her nursing degree, and is happily married with 4 children.   She also volunteers at the CPC as a nurse who helps with pregnancy testing. Tara says, “ I am now able to help other women who are going through the same things I went through.   Even though it was a painful situation at the time, I can now help others see there is a light at the end of the tunnel.”

Amanda's Story

“At the age of 18, I came to CPC Women’s Health Resource scared and pregnant.   I considered all three options of adoption, abortion, and parenting.  After talking to the counselors, I decided to carry my baby and parent with my boyfriend.  My relationship with the baby’s father failed, though, and it left me heartbroken and feeling like a failure.  I came back to the CPC and received support, counsel, and prayer that God would lead me.  I later began a new relationship with a man who accepted me just as I was, and he loved my boys as their own father.  We decided to get married, and together we made a commitment to abstain from sex until our marriage, in honor to God who was a big part of our lives. The CPC helped make our relationship a reality because they helped me get back into the Word.  Randy and I are now happily married, and we now have a daughter.  We have a wonderful family, and God is the head of our household.  I now travel to churches and organizations speaking on behalf of the CPC and sharing my story of hope.”
